3/22/13                                Ethnic Food and Culture Celebration

            On Thursday, March 21st, Avila University had an ethnic food and culture celebration. Interviewing people over there was really interesting.  People over there had different opinions about the food, especially students.


            According to Julissa, she thought that the Ethnic food festival was delicious.  Brianna said that she had only tried the cheeseburgers so far. According to Ali, from Saudi Arabia, he said that he and his friends presented different dishes from the Middle East. For example, Baryanie, traditional Kabsa, and different kinds of salad. According to Ali, he also had different kinds of appetizers such as warak enab, lamb and chicken. According to Ali, what makes the Middle East food more unique than the other foods in the Ethnic Food Festival are two things. The first one is that it is delicious, and the second one is that they worked hard on making it.

            According to Erica, she thought the food in the Ethnic Food Festival at Avila University was tasty. Also she had tried things that she hadn’t tried before. She said the favorite food she had was Chinese, because she liked the spicy mix rice dish. According to Jacob, he liked all the food in the food festival, but the one that he loved the most was sushi.

            According to Linda Stanfield, she thought that the Ethnic Food Festival at Avila University was wonderful. She said that she was eating Chinese, Japanese, Saudi Arabian and Irish food.  According to Robert Stanfield, the husband of Linda Stanfield, he said that he had tried all the food at the Food Festival at Avila University. He said most of the food he ate was Chinese. He said that his favorite food could be fried rice and spring roll from Japan. One of the things that appealed to him was the variety of the food. According to Nanci, she loved all the food at the food festival. According to Tamika Nelson, her best food during that time was the food from Saudi Arabia. According to Tamika Nelson, the food festival was wonderful and great.

            According to Madina, she was representing the Hispanic food. She said that the food she was representing in the Ethnic Food Festival was Ochata, Rose Corn Leche, and Chaco Plant.

Acorrding to Renee, they are presenting cupcakes for Sexual Orientation Diversity Alliance. According to Renee, she said what makes her cupcakes different from the other food in the food festival at Avila University, was that it was shaped as a rainbow. According to Darby Goff and Debbie Thornton, they were representing Germany, which is their heritage. They were serving pretzels and beer. According to both Debbie Thornton and Darby Goff, was that what made their product more unique from the other product in the Ethnic Food Festival was that they were serving beer, which was non-alcoholic beer. According to Ridwang, she is presenting spring roll, such as egg, pork, and other spring rolls.

            According to Wakana, she is representing the Japanese curry. According to Wakana, what makes the Japanese food unique was that it was healthy. According to Green he is presenting spicy chicken and fire rice. According to Green he said what made his food more unique than the others was the taste. According to Nina who comes from Beijing, China, she made some spicy tofu. She said what made her food more unique from the others was that it was spicy.

           These were all of the things that showed what people and the people who made the food thought about the ethnic food festival and showing what was unique about each food.
